About Dmitrii

I’m just a guy who fell in love with China and ended up staying for two years. Studied there, passed HSK 4, came back — but Mandarin never left me. The thing is, I know exactly how overwhelming it feels to land in a country where everything works differently. Not just the language — the mindset, the humour, the way people say „yes“ when they mean „maybe“. Native teachers don’t always see those gaps. But I do. I’ve been the foreigner who got lost, misunderstood, and laughed at myself. That’s why I teach: not to lecture you, but to help you skip the confusion and actually enjoy the language. It became my hobby, then my habit, and now I just really want you to feel how cool it is when Mandarin finally starts making sense

About the class

Here’s what makes my lessons different: I don’t make you wait until you’re ‘ready’ to speak. You speak from day one. I graduated from a Chinese university and hold an HSK 4 certificate, but my students don’t come to me for certificates — they come to me because they want to feel the language. I tailor every single session to your vibe. If you learn better through music, we use songs. If you love stories, we create dialogues. I’ve worked with kids, busy professionals, and retired travellers — and everyone says the same thing: ‘This actually feels like quality time, not homework.’ Let’s make Mandarin your new habit!

Tried Duolingo, tried group classes — nothing stuck. Then I started with Tsvigun. His vibe is chill but focused. No boring grammar lectures, just real speaking practice. He actually lived in China, so you learn how locals really talk, not textbook Mr. Wang stuff. Passed HSK 3, but bigger win: I can watch Chinese dramas without subtitles now. Lessons that don't feel like homework. Highly recommend.

Most tutors make me feel like I'm back in school. Dmitrii doesn't. We spend half the lesson laughing at my tone mistakes, and somehow that's how I actually remember things. He adapts everything — tired after work? We slow down. Planning a trip? We switch to travel phrases. He cares about you, not just finishing a textbook. I never thought I'd look forward to Mandarin lessons, but here we are.

I started with Dmitrii two years ago before moving to Shanghai. My Mandarin was zero and I was nervous. He didn't just teach the language — he taught me how to be in China. Never made me feel stupid, just showed me how to say things until they stuck. Now I live in Shanghai, order food, chat with colleagues, and actually understand what's happening around me. If you're moving to China or just want real Mandarin, not textbook stuff — this is your guy.
