About Valentine
I am a native Chinese speaker currently studying at Tsinghua University in China, with a strong background in language learning and cross-cultural communication. I grew up in the UK coming from a bilingual background, speaking both English and Chinese. My passion for teaching comes from helping students not only master the language, but also gain insight into Chinese culture and ways of thinking. With experience guiding students from different backgrounds and levels, I understand the challenges of learning a new language and know how to make the process both effective and enjoyable.

I offer structured and engaging Chinese lessons designed to help you achieve your language goals. My teaching methodology combines interactive conversation practice, clear grammar explanations, and personalised exercises to ensure steady progress. Lessons are tailored to each student’s needs. Beginner? We’ll start with pinyin (the Chinese alphabet), tones, and simple sentences so you can introduce yourself and have short conversations. You’ll also get introduced to Chinese characters. Already know the basics? We’ll boost your vocabulary, practise real life dialogues and work on more natural expressions. I will customise the class based on your language goals and purposes (e.g. travel, school, language proficiency exams), and whether you would like an all-rounded class or focus more on speaking, listening, reading or writing. These lessons are suitable for students of all ages and levels—from complete beginners to those looking to refine their fluency. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where you can gain confidence and communicate effectively in Chinese.
