Methodology

The JKD which literally means "the way of the intercepting fist" is a unique discipline of its kind. More specifically, it is a concept with Jun Fan Gung Fu as a martial base which then allows to have its expression of Jeet Kune Do. Indeed it is not a question of a restricted art, but rather of a martial field which adapts to all the practitioners and not the reverse. So understand that there is not just one form of Jeet Kune Do, but that there are as many as there are practitioners. Thus the JKD borrows many movements and techniques from other disciplines such as Boxing, Wrestling, Fencing, Judo in addition to having its own mysteries. The role of the master is therefore to guide the disciples in the choice of movements, strokes and holds that they wish to integrate into their expression of the JKD, to offer them a large panel therefore, but above all to help them to perfect them. appropriate them so that they can practice a martial art in their image. Background

my name is Ted OSSEUX and I am a martial arts teacher that I practiced for ten years. My career and my training as a teacher took place with David DELANNOY, a reference figure in the martial field since he is the representative of Jeet Kune Do (JKD) in France appointed by the Inosanto Academy. In fact, he was formed by Dan INOSANTO, himself a disciple and best friend of Bruce LEE who is the founder of Jeet Kune Do. He is known to be the second branch of the Bruce Lee martial family tree. Tree that I want to grow in my turn since, recognized by David DELANNOY who gave me my instructor's diploma. I am about to train the fourth generation. The JKD brought me a lot, both physically and in a more moral dimension. Indeed, martial arts are originally intended for combat, they can represent a threat. Thus, their practice requires learning to discipline oneself. They also allow you to gain self-confidence, so you don't have to use it. Although it may seem paradoxical, martial arts are a source that humanely enriches anyone interested in it. For example, during my career, I participated on a voluntary basis in days dedicated to the initiation of children to martial arts in Paris Coubertin and in the martial arts festival in Bercy. Today, I still try to surpass myself in order to transcend the discipline, give back to the martial arts everything they have offered me, and share with others everything I have learned. So I want to bring something to the martial universe, and teach it to my students. By wanting to continue to transmit what David DELANNOY taught me, my discipline is more oriented towards self-defense and competition does not exist.

Perfect! Ted est un coach compétent, pédagogue, à l'écoute et patient. Moi qui n'ai pas l'habitude de faire de l'activité physique, j'ai passé une très bonne séance, il s'est adapté à mon niveau et pour ne rien gâcher Ted met rapidement à l'aise, on se sent vite en confiance. A quel âge avez-vous commencé à faire du sport ? Parlez-nous de cette époque (évidemment pas si lointaine) ?
Ted — J'ai toujours depuis tout petit fait du sport, j'ai pratiqué pas mal de sport étant jeune mais ce n'est qu'à l'âge de 18-19 ans que j'ai commencé les arts martiaux plus précisément le Jeet Kune Do et Kali
QUESTION 02 | 08
Quels sont vos sports favoris, ceux que vous pratiquez à haut niveau, en tant que simples loisirs ou que vous aimeriez découvrir ?
Ted — J'aime tous types de sport que ce soit individuel ou collectif, le but est de pouvoir s'amuser entre amis tout simplement. Je m'intéresse beaucoup aussi à toutes les pratiques martiales mais de loin car au final dans chaque art on prendra 5 minutes à apprendre les techniques mais toute une vie pour la parfaire.

Donnez-nous envie d'enfiler un short en nous expliquant ce que vous apporte le sport au quotidien !
Ted — Même si le sport peut amener à la blessure, c'est aussi lui qui va au final renforcer votre santé physique et mentale et est porteur de motivation pour la vie de tous les jours car en pratiquant tout en se disant ne pas vouloir abandonner, cela forge un mental que l'on peut ensuite mettre en pratique dans la vie de tous les jours. Au final le sport apporte beaucoup de bien fait pour le corps et le cerveau et grâce à cela on arrive à transformer des pensées peut-être négatives en pensées positives.

Quel exploit sportif vous a marqué ou inspiré (voire donné envie de chanter I will survive toute la journée) ? Dites-nous comment vous l'avez vécu !
Ted — Tout d'abord il faut savoir que la première fois que j'ai commencé dans mon club, j'avais pendant 2 ans arrêté toutes pratiques sportives pour certaines raisons. Quand j'ai donc repris le sport il m'a suffi pas moins de 10 minutes pour avoir la tête qui tourne et être mal en point. Bizarrement le fait d'avoir vu les autres continuer à faire les exercices et à rigoler entre eux très clairement ça m'a juste donné envie d'être près d'eux pour souffrir mais ensuite rigoler avec eux. C'est ce qui m'a donc poussé à revenir en me disant je vais y arriver et réussir après l'entraînement à en rire.

Parlez-nous de votre plus bel accomplissement en tant que sportif !
Ted — Je pense que la chose la chose la plus belle que j'ai pu accomplir en tant que sportif c'est de me dire qu'il n'est jamais trop tard pour essayer une pratique car au final si je me serais renfermé sur moi même et que je n'aurais pas essayé aujourd'hui je ne serais pas là à vous écrire.

Si vous deviez faire un jogging avec un sportif de renom, lequel serait-ce ? Et quelles questions lui poseriez-vous (si vous arrivez à courir à son rythme et qu'il vous reste encore un peu de salive) ?
Ted — Jackie Chan se compte:). La question que je lui poserais serait, pourquoi ne pas former des gens afin de pouvoir retrouver de bon film d'art martiaux qu'il était le seul et savait tant bien faire ?

Comment vous y prenez-vous pour qu'un élève garde "l'œil du tigre" et persévère dans l'effort ?
Ted — Chaque personne est unique, mais chacun d'entre nous avons des objectifs bien définis que ça soit dans la vie de tous les jours ou bien sportif. Notre rôle est juste d'aiguiller nos élèves à sa réussite de son ou bien ces objectifs.

Qu'est-ce qui fait de vous un super sportif… et un Superprof ?
Ted — Un superprof pour moi ça n'existe pas, tout est question d'énergie et feeling entre l'élève et le prof, et super sportif ne veut pas dire bon prof aussi on peut-être excellent dans sa pratique mais ne pas être pédagogue. Au final être un bon prof c'est d'être capable de s'adapter à chaque individu afin de répondre à leurs exigences mais aussi de continuer d'être élèves aussi car il y aura toujours de nouvelles choses à apprendre.
