About Isabela

Olá, é um prazer te conhecer!

I started teaching Portuguese almost 10 years ago when I moved to New York to study Journalism.

Teaching my friends helped me to realize how much I loved teaching and sharing about Brazilian culture.

Since then, I've taught more than 110 students from absolute beginners to exam preparations and professional level.

About the class

Olá! I’m from São Paulo, Brazil and I’m a Portuguese teacher. I have more than 9 years of experience teaching Portuguese as a foreign language. I am passionate about teaching, I find it very fun and rewarding!

- I am a Certified Translator (Portuguese and English)
- Bachelor in Communications and Journalism by Metodista University in São Paulo and Major by New York University
- Portuguese, English, and Spanish speaker

Whether you would like to start from scratch or you are here to level up quickly, I got your back!

I offer personalized, effective, and dynamic sessions.

Before we start I will create a program based on your goals and experience, each lesson using different materials and resources. We will integrate conversation, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, comprehension, reading and writing. And use article, videos, music, documentaries, interviews, and other resources to support the lessons. We can explore Portuguese through music, history, food, politics, cinema and different locations in Brazil.

The course will be tailored to your interests, needs and requests!

Get ready to build confidence!

- Pronouncing like a Brazilian
- Having fluent conversations
- Understanding and speaking
- Reading and writing

I offer courses in-person and online on Zoom and also accept small groups of students.

Isabela was an excellent teacher, she has a deep understanding of both Portuguese and English and can help to relate to some of the more technical aspects of the language. He worksheets were well considered, practical and helped me to learn quickly and overcome the challenging rules in Portuguese even as I am a beginner! She discussed with me my aims and what I would be doing on my next trip to Brazil to help focus in on the learning to my specific requirements and I found it really beneficial. I recommend her to anyone starting out with Portuguese with her excellent communication, teaching and organisational skills.
