About Swarup
I grown up in a village of West Bengal and my dream was to study in Govt. College of Art & Craft, Calcutta. After completed of class twelve. I got the admission in the dreamed college in 2014 with the help of my village art teacher and opted the specialization in Graphic Design & Applied Art.
In the foundation course every students have to do all disciplines i.e. Painting, Applied Arts, Sculpture, Graphics, Textile Design etc. And my keen interest was in Graphics at that year. For this reason I met Prof. Chandan Das, Graphics teacher (H.O.D.) and he shown me many of his works. He told me that he was the son of Haren Das, and gave me book of the father and even shown me the original prints. Haren Das was a renowned wood Engraving artist of India. He used to work on the Japanese technique UKIYO-E, a wood block prints multi color with process. He was impressed by the illustration done by Nandalal Bose on ‘Sahaj Path’ book published by Rabindranath Tagore. I was also inspired by this book and copied some of the black and white wood cut print. Haren Das did his Diploma in Painting from the Govt. College of Art & Craft, Calcutta and joined as on 1947 teacher in the same college in the Dept. of Painting. During his job period he learned the wood cut technique from Ramananda Chattopadhya, the graphics teacher and also his friend.
In the second year I have joined in the Dept. of Applied Arts where we had to do Posters, Hoardings, Illustrations, Book cover design etc. Which are compulsory, But I am not interested at all of there subjects. And as an optional subject. I have opted the Graphics Art where I have learned the woodcut, Linocut, Etching. During this working process I was inclined to do specialization in Graphics so that I can do better. But there is no specialization in Graphics in our college. So, I thought to pursue Graphics specialization in Master Degree. After completion of B.F.A. course I asked Chandan Das, from where I could do my master’s course in Graphics in which he suggested to pursue in Khairagarh as Prof. V . Nagdas, the eminent Graphic teacher as well as a renown printmaker of the country. And I have seen some of his work in the Internet and I was very much impressed by his works. One of my senior brother was a student and he told me about the Dept. and working atmosphere.
When I came to admit in the Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh for the M.F.A. in graphics. I felt and understood the village life, Nature etc of this place. There are no artificial nature and cities life etc. I felt that all the life of Khairagarh’s people are very simple real and ordinary, which all the things are totally different from the cities life, like as a black & white t.v. television. I felt to enter in the films of the 17th century. Than I took my decision and admitted in the Dept. of Graphics.
After completion of my study in B.F.A. Applied Arts from Govt. College of Art & Craft Calcutta in 2018. I got admitted in M.F.A. in Dept. of Graphics, Indira Kala SangeetVishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh this year. During my study in Applied Arts I have to work only for the class and in such way I have not done any work in Painting also.After opted for Printmaking in M.F.A. I started to focus on my creative work and getting confused how to start my work with composition. Suddenly I came to know that I belong to a mediocre family with difficulties trying to stepped up to become success in life. This is happened to all common human being to stepped up in stairs not the way other used the lift to rach on the roof top.
I would like to use stairs on a symbolic of common people and started to work as my subject. After I came in Khairagarh I have seen the stairs for roof top were built in exterior. Like such stairs for some common people their dreams remain as incomplete and unfulfilled in their life.
Then I have no break to work and heard the news of Pulwama Attack (14 February 2019). I was shocked to hear the news of how many patriot lost their lives and I started working the Pulwama concepts. I get stuck in lockdown while working and now I am thinking and working on this situation.

The only evil creatures in society are nature and people are my subject. People are the main reason behind the best response in the world today and I protest by my actions. My works are working as different personalities.
