About Martha
I am a paediatric oncology registered nurse yogi who worked multiple jobs in nursing school- tutoring being one of them. We have a saying in nursing and that is "see one, do one, teach one". This is the motto for becoming proficient in a topic. I am so passionate about teaching others how to be proficient in their own bodies. Learning how the body works, and how we can create a mind, body, spirit connection to cope with this ever-changing, ever-stressful world, is really a key to coexisting with the weight of it all- and each other. Yoga has allowed me to understand these components and I am honoured to share them with others. I have recently moved to the UK from the US and I am excited for the new chapter that it brings, along with new opportunities to meet people from different cultures and share our knowledge. Everyone you meet is an opportunity to learn something new!

After gathering an idea of what the student understands, I approach the information in a very practical way. Starting with the basic building blocks of the subject, and then building on them to create a greater concept understanding. I like to compare the subject matter to real life, using real life examples, videos, statistics, and even drawing pictures to support a deeper grasp of the content. Lessons are 60 minutes long, with a maximum of 90 (if the student is obliged). Each human has an Ultradian Rhythm, meaning that after 60-90 minutes, biologically, our abilities to grasp a concept or perform decreases and our mind/body needs a break. I wouldn't want to push a person past this, and want these lessons to be enjoyable, not dreaded. I am a registered nurse who has taught and educated as a preceptor to many new nurses, along with teaching families, how to take care of those who are ill in their house. I am a certified yoga instructor and have a deep knowledge of yoga philosophy. My lessons are for all ages. I have tutored and taught school-age children, to adults.
