About Siddan
Besides teaching English I have worked as a journalist, editor, proposal writer, screenplay writer, film critic, filmmaker, film festival founder, director and programmer, YouTuber, educational theorist and poet. I have two master's degrees, one in English Literature (India) and another in Media Studies (US), writing a thesis for the latter on Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs. In Canada, studying for B.Ed. in York University instigated me to start the Regent Park Film Festival as an experiment in public education, and run it over 4 years 2003 - 2006. I have co-edited a book of literary essays published by Harper Collins, '50 Writers, 50 Books: the Best of Indian Fiction,' (2013) also contributing an essay. Another was collected in 'Mr. Naipaul's Round Trip and Other Essays' published by Penguin. I have written film reviews for Monitor, a Canadian journal published by Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives. I am currently working on a screenplay 'the State of Denmark,' and a book on educational theory, initially developed over several months in 2021 on my YouTube channel.

I help students clarify their ideas and purpose in their writing project, whether it be for publishing or for school/university assignments. We start with the problem the student is facing, diagnose the obstacles and find the way forward. The lesson plan will depend on where the student needs help. Over 30 years I have taught English Literature and ESL in India, Germany, US and Canada to students ranging from intermediate to graduate levels. I have taught English for Science and Technology in Germany and can help scientists hone writing for publishing and for public speaking.
