About Talha
Hi, I am Talha, a computer science researcher.
I grew up in Pakistan, did my Ph.D. in US, then a postdoc in Germany, and recently moved to Toronto. My Ph.D. at Northeastern University was advised by one of the top researchers in the world in the area of computer systems and security. During grad school, I was also able to intern at top companies in Silicon Valley (Facebook and Cloudflare). In the early years of my program, I would be terrified at the prospect of writing. It would make me confused, stuck, and I would always think I'm just not a natural (and that my technical skills can make up for it). Fortunately, my close advisors and collaborators helped me realize how wrong I was!
Over the last few years, my writing skills and confidence have improved significantly. It was a revelation, realizing that writing is a skill just like any other. And a skill that, in fact, flourishes well with creative thinking. Today, I feel excited to do technical writing, and enjoy the process of jotting down my thoughts, making a lot of mistakes, iterating and re-iterating, and finally being content with a piece of text that serves the purpose well. I hope to impart some of my learnings to you.

- I may not be able to help you finish your writing task during a lesson. But my main focus would be to help make you a better writer, so these lessons are not needed as frequently.
- Will leverage my 14 years of skills in CS, and diverse experiences across academia and industry to help meet your goals.
- Focus on empathy and communication to make lessons effective (and fun). I have lived in 6 countries, and enjoy connecting with people from all ages and backgrounds.
