About Anna

I hold a PhD in Arts Management and Cultural Policy, an MSc in International Management and Marketing, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management. My interdisciplinary academic background spans management, cultural policy and arts management, with particular expertise in qualitative research.

My own research experience covers the full research journey — from developing an initial idea and identifying a research problem, to designing a methodology, writing a research proposal, conducting independent research and communicating findings to academic audiences. My research has been accepted for presentation at international academic conferences, and I have presented my work to international research audiences. I have also organised an international academic conference supported by research funding, giving me first-hand experience of both research development and academic communication.

Alongside my own research, I have two years of experience mentoring PhD students and have provided one-to-one academic guidance to Master’s students working on Arts Management dissertations. I have supported students at the early stages of research in developing their ideas, refining research questions, engaging critically with literature, selecting appropriate methodologies and building coherent research designs.

I now specialise in research proposal development, particularly for Master’s and prospective PhD students in management, arts management, cultural policy and related social science disciplines. My approach is designed for students who may have an interesting topic or initial idea but are unsure how to turn it into a clear, academically rigorous and feasible research project.

Rather than simply editing a proposal, I guide students through the reasoning behind it. My aim is for you to finish with not only a stronger proposal of your own, but also a clear understanding of why your research question, literature, methodology and proposed contribution fit together — skills that will continue to support you throughout your dissertation or PhD.

I offer a structured five-session Research Proposal Programme for Master’s and prospective PhD students who want to develop a research proposal from an initial idea to a complete draft.

You do not need to arrive with a fully developed research question. You may already have a topic in mind, or simply an area that interests you. Across six one-to-one sessions, I will guide you through the process of turning that starting point into a clear, coherent and feasible research proposal.

Session 1 – From an Idea to a Researchable Topic
We explore your initial interests, identify key concepts and potential research problems, and narrow a broad topic into a focused and researchable direction. We will also begin developing keywords and a strategy for finding relevant academic literature.

Session 2 – Literature, Research Gap and Rationale
We examine the relevant literature and identify how your proposed research fits within existing academic conversations. You will learn how to move beyond simply summarising previous studies and use the literature to establish a research gap, rationale and potential contribution.

Session 3/4 – Research Questions and Methodology
We refine your research question and objectives and develop an appropriate methodology. Depending on your project, we can discuss research philosophy, qualitative research design, sampling, data collection, analysis, ethics and feasibility, ensuring that your methodological choices clearly connect to your research question.

Session 5 – Building the Full Proposal
We bring the different elements together into a coherent proposal. We focus on structure, academic argument, connections between sections and how to clearly communicate what you want to investigate, why it matters and how you plan to conduct the research.

Session 6 – Reviewing and Strengthening Your Draft
Once you have developed your full draft, we review it together and identify areas that need further refinement. We focus on clarity, coherence, criticality and consistency across the research problem, literature, research questions and methodology, leaving you with a clear plan for your final revisions.

My role is not to write your proposal for you, but to guide you through the intellectual process of developing it. By the end of the programme, my aim is for you to have both a strong proposal of your own and a clearer understanding of how to design independent academic research.

My expertise is particularly suited to qualitative and interdisciplinary research in management studies, marketing, arts management, cultural policy and cultural governance. If your project falls outside these areas, please contact me before booking so we can determine whether my research expertise is a good fit for your topic.
