About Jess
I am currently a Second Year Pharmacy Student at Keele University and I have a job as support staff at my local nursery.
I have been tutoring for a few years in my spare time I have had between university and my school life and managed to successfully tutor students GCSE Maths so they could advance further with their education.
I also had the pleasure in tutoring a student who suffered with depression, anxiety and ME and have gained some vital experience and knowledge on how to tutor students who suffer with chronic illness which can affect their daily life.

I feel confident in teaching Maths, Biology and Chemistry up to an A-level standard.
My lessons consist of a variety of things. I try to make my lessons as fun and effective as possible as I am passionate about my teaching and giving my students the best support and teaching methods to suit them.
I put a lot of time and thought into my tutoring techniques as I believe each student will have a different obstacles they can overcome and I think its important to support them on an emotional/confidence level as well as an academic one.
I am dyslexic but have found a variety of ways to overcome the challenges that I face from this. I like to use my experience to help others who may also be dyslexic or have a different learning disability.
If preparing for an exam, the first few lessons consist mainly of spotting areas which need the most work and which areas are strong. I would then go on to making worksheets of increasing difficulty and workbooks which can be taken home to practice in. I ask the student how they like to learn best and will try my hardest to incorporate as much of their preferred learning style into my teaching.
I like to support my students but also encourage them to push themselves and reach their full potential.
I also like to encourage them to explore the subject themselves and explore techniques which can come in handy for later life such as further education and how to find reliable sources on the internet and how to check over their own work.
