About Wenqi

I am a native Mandarin speaker based in Edinburgh, working as a curator and researcher across film, visual art and cultural programming. I co-curate a Chinese film festival and founded an art collective, also distributing Asian films in UK. My work connects Chinese and UK perspectives, and I enjoy sharing Chinese language and culture through conversation, film and the arts. I also have experience leading creative workshops and aim to make learning welcoming, thoughtful and enjoyable.

About the class

I tailor each lesson to your goals, interests and level, using conversation, pronunciation practice and topics from everyday life and Chinese culture. We can also explore Chinese through films and other screen works, learning useful expressions while discovering cultural references and perspectives. My background in film and the arts, along with my experience leading creative workshops, helps me create engaging, welcoming lessons. Sessions are usually about 60 minutes and suit learners of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to more advanced speakers. I am a native Mandarin speaker based in Edinburgh and offer lessons online or in person.
