About Arafat

I am Artist Arafat Hosen, currently residing in Sydney. With 14 years of experience teaching art in Bangladesh, I am passionate about guiding others in various forms of visual art. Portrait drawing, painting, and watercolour are my top areas of expertise, and I take great joy in sharing my knowledge, skills, and experience with aspiring artists and those who are passionate about art.
I have conducted several solo painting exhibitions both locally and internationally. I have also been invited to present watercolor painting demonstrations in Nepal, India, and within the Brisbane art community.

About the class

This lesson invites participants to delve deeply into the present, engaging in self-inquiry to justify their current reality and discover their own positive energy. Through the practice of art, participants can relieve anxiety, past memories, and traumas that often disrupt the present moment. Life is all about living in the now. I choose watercolour as the medium for meditation because it naturally flows, reflecting an automatic process that cannot be fully controlled but can be observed. This allows one to become a true witness of their own journey.

Meditation through water and color within a wash techniques.

- Watercolour Wash Techniques:
- Wet-in-wet
- Dry brushing
- Sketchy figure and car study for creating cityscapes

Mindful meditation. Not controlling the water and colour but to observe to be witnessed of the moment.

- Creating a Center of Interest:
- Negative and positive space in watercolour painting

three are many ways to create centre of interest in painting such as using contrast colour, light and and shade, emphasising the subject.
