About Ryan
I am a Maths student in my second year of studying at Durham University who has been tutoring at GCSE and A level standards for 3 years now. I have tutored long term for 4 students who have all experienced great growth in their mathematical ability, all achieving their aims which varied from achieving a 5 at GCSE from originally studying at a grade of 1 and achieving an 7 when aiming for a pass.

During sessions, I would first ask how the student feels with different maths topics so that I can get an idea for the topics that need to be covered in depth. Then progress through the topics with example questions in which I go through them step by step. Moving on to the student going through the questions with my supervision and help. Until it becomes natural and easy for them to do it by themselves. I find this approach works very well as the "practice make perfect" saying is very relevant to maths, it being an applied subject. I will measure the progress of the students through weekly independent tests and set homework's, which I will subsequently walk through the following week.
