Planned, Organized and executed several student driven social welfare initiatives as part of the National Service Scheme (under Govt. of India). Analysis of performance measures and Minimization of Makespan in a Precision Aerospace Components Manufacturing Unit-Operations Department, Zenith Precisions Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, Feb-May 2016 [4-member team] Application of Theory of Constraints [ToC] to improve on-time delivery rate to customers in a medium scale aerospace components manufacturing unit. Assessed initial system performance by quantifying seven performance measures. Built a real-time simulation model [using Arena simulation package] to emulate the manufacturing system and identify the system constraint. Studied the influence of varying job priority sequencing rules on aforementioned system performance measures. From the results of the statistically verified simulation study, we proposed a change in job scheduling from EDD to SPT prioritization rule as it provided optimal/sub-optimal results for set performance measures. In addition, we developed a job scheduling algorithm built on simple genetic operations with the objective function of minimizing production makespan.
