• Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

  My first experience with a computer was in the early 2000s, using Windows 2000. I was around four years old and completely fascinated by how this metal machine could make sounds and display changing colours. It quickly became my favourite "toy", sparking a lifelong curiosity. That early fascination stayed with me and eventually led me to pursue a career in software engineering.

• What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

  Artificial Intelligence has had the biggest impact on me. While studying AI and machine learning at university, well before the rise of ChatGPT, I recognised its immense potential. The ability to analyse vast data sets and generate accurate predictions was impressive even then. Now, with generative AI creating text, images, music and more, I believe we're standing at the edge of a major technological paradigm shift that will reshape how we live and work.

• Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

  I specialise in software engineering, particularly web application development. I've always been intrigued by how software powers the modern world from websites to financial systems. Today, having an online presence is essential for any business, and software engineers make that possible using languages like Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL and more. This field plays a critical role in keeping the digital world running smoothly.

• Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

  Absolutely. Visionaries like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates have always inspired me. Their ability to reshape the world through innovation is something I admire deeply. Jobs reimagined the way we interact with technology, and Gates revolutionised personal computing. I hope to one day leave a similar mark, whether by leveraging existing technology or creating something entirely new.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  One quote that stayed with me throughout university is from Bill Gates:

  It reminded me to always listen, adapt, and view every challenge as an opportunity to grow-an approach that's helped me both in my academic life and career.

• What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

  I'd tell them to take a step back and break the problem down into smaller parts. That's the essence of problem-solving in IT. We also live in a time where tools like Google and YouTube can help you solve many problems. With curiosity and a bit of guidance, what once seemed complicated becomes manageable.

• What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

  Outside of tech, I'm passionate about travelling and experiencing different cultures. I find it fascinating to see how each country uses technology in its own way to solve problems and increase efficiency. It's a powerful reminder that innovation is universal but never identical.
