My tutor Alexsandra showed enthusiasm for the subject and tailored it to my needs with a good balance and variety of materials. I am not talented with languages, and Portuguese pronunciation is very hard - those nasal sounds take a lot of practice - but Alexsandra is a fantastic teacher and I am very motivated to keep working.

She also brings in a lot of colloquial expressions and idioms, which is important because spoken Brazilian Portuguese is quite different from the formal written language, and while a textbook can teach you how to write like a Brazilian, only a Brazilian can teach you how to speak like one.

Alexsandra taught both my wife and I Portuguese for a period of approx 4 months ahead of our first visit to Brazil.
