About Amy
I have been in the martial arts/self defense focus since I was 13. My whole family also participates in it in some way. This gives me a unique edge and has allowed me to view how everyone's martial arts is different. When I first started I wasn't the most consistent, so I have that personal experience to help others stay motivated and disciplined. A certified instructor, I teach both adults and children, and have learned to connect with all types of people.
I love teaching martial arts and watching my students level up in a way they didn't think possible. Self defense gives people of all ages the self confidence and self discipline they need in life and I like helping grow those aspects.
Most people think they can't do martial arts if they aren't in shape already or if they don't start when they're young. But I know that if you are ready to take the first step then you've already done the hardest part: starting!
I started volunteering at a public school a few years ago to teach martial arts as an extension of my actual job and from there I never looked back!
I have been training in kickboxing for 8 years and Jiu-Jitsu/ close range self defense for 3 years. I fully believe there is always more to learn and train for at least 5 hours a week myself.

I like to get to know all my students first.. I want to know why you decided to start your martial arts journey.. If you have never done martial arts before, I would take you through all of the basics. The correct defensive stance and the first few techniques to learn. I want you to be comfortable with me!
I have worked with a multitude of different people: Adults that have never trained, adults that just want an extra workout, kids that have a lot of energy, shy kids, kids with autism.
I'm sure that we will get along!
Please know that there are so many different forms of martial arts. And there's so many way to teach it! I would definitely recommend trying more than one type and more than one teacher before committing.
