About Teri
I provide fun quality training in dance technique and choreography, specifically in hip hop, jazz funk, heels, burlesque, and more. I offer private one-on-one lessons catered to the goals of the student. Information on group lessons is available upon request. No matter the type of lesson, solo or group, have your lesson recorded, edited and produced, and sent to you as a keepsake or to be posted your social media.
The lessons I provide will teach you rhythm, musicality, groove, technique, and style, as well as build your stamina, coordination, and confidence. I will push you to become industry ready.
First and foremost, I enjoy creating movement. I am an artist, and at the same time, I'm an entertainer. I live to feel the personal expressions of dancers moving to the music. And I love seeing my work and vision come to life in others. But the best reward about what I do is mentoring and fostering talent and seeing the growth and progression in my students with each lesson.
I got started teaching in a studio setting with Studio FX. Before that, I worked with college adults in a team setting. I started teaching seriously when I started teaching kids. From there, I've honed my teaching skills and methods to provide a comfortable learning environment at a reasonable pace.
I have been on competition teams that have competed in the dance community competitions in California (Vibe, Battlefest, Fusion, Body Rock). I have also been a part of the following dance companies in San Diego: PGN Dance Company, RYPE Dance Company, Urban FX, House Of Mo, Tha Most, SIN, and I am the founder and artistic director of The D.R.E.A.M.ers Project. The majority of my dance training has been through Studio FX and Culture Shock Dance Center.

Lessons will always start with stretching and warming up the body. The first lesson will be an assessment of goals and experience to find out where a good place to start is before moving forward with choreography. Coordination, rhythm, and groove are typical places to start with dance. From there, depending on the desired intensity of each lesson, we will explore movement, improvised and choreographed, and style.
I work with kids as young as 9 and adults as old as 45. I've had students who've had no prior experience in dance, who take my classes recreationally. I've also had students who are training to get better and also experienced/seasoned dancers who are in class to refine their skills.
Depending on your goals and what you want to achieve, research information about the teacher. Videos are a great help in that department. You want to make sure that you get what you pay for. If they have a class at a studio, try that class out or preview the class before booking private lessons.
San Diego Pride 2017 has been the biggest project I've ever undertaken. I gathered dancers from my classes and in the community to put together a 22 minute medley of pure dance. It was an amazing show and the crowd's energy was definitely felt.
