About Katarina
I am a recent graduate of the University of Glasgow with a master's in English Literature: Fantasy. My family are Azorean, so I spent my whole life growing up hearing Portuguese spoken around me. Because my family immigrated to the U.S. and didn't receive a high degree of education, I learned Portuguese more properly in recent years and passed the Portuguese government's CAPLE (A2) test last year. My style of speaking is much more like Brazilian Portuguese, thus I would not be best suited to Portugal's style of speaking, but would be excellent at delivering beginner's lessons (A1-A2 levels) for Brazilian Portuguese.

As a tutor, I customize my lessons according to the needs of my students, measure progress, and cultivate an encouraging learning environment. I do not believe in cookie cutter same-size-fits-all lessons. I am neurodivergent and have experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to learn when lessons aren't being taught in ways that accommodate my learning styles and needs, and how discouraging it can be when you begin to struggle. That's why I work to ensure lessons are taught in ways that work for the unique learning styles of my clients.
Previously, I tutored at the Community College of Rhode Island in Spanish language.
