About Asharam

Because contrary to what you think, it is in your self-interest to do so. I love all the other answers here which are full of positivity and virtue, and espouse the sense of fulfillment one might get by sharing their knowledge. But I am drawn to the second part of the question. The fear of being left behind tells me that there is some kind of insecurity which is in the driver’s seat of your life. (No judgment here!). Fulfillment and altruism are great for those who have loads of self-assurance but for the insecure folks, they need some practical and tangible benefits to drive any kind of positive behavior. So here is a list of why sharing your knowledge is of long-term benefit to you even if in the short term you might be “left-behind” It establishes you as knowledgeable (duh!), i.e. gives you credibility as an “expert”

Encourage critical thinking. Foster a growth mindset. Connect math to existing knowledge. Teach math vocabulary. I applied a few steps to make mathematics a more fun and easy-going subject for class 11 and 12. I am going to share here. Take some practical and funny examples from the real world. Like when we have to find the value of 'X', I always say …ohh again, my Ex is following me. Now we have to give her value also..hahaha..whole class. Don't give very hard questions for homework during the initial days. First, give simple questions so that they can solve them easily and their confidence will rise. Before going into any new topic in mathematics, you must know all the history of the topic. Who invented this formula, why this is useful, why we study it, what's its role in daily life or in the future. Talk to each and every student in class. Ask about his/her doubts. Why he/she feels math is so boring. Then give some examples on those topics related to the real world. Tell the students about “Field Medal” the Nobel Prize in the field of mathematics. Tell them if any one of them will win this medal his/her name will be written in Golden words. Try to inspire them by The Scholars of mathematics like Newton, Leibniz, Aryabhatta, Ramanujan…etc. Tell them that if you ever learned mathematics in a very well manner you will never forget its concepts in your entire life. Like we never forget about addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and (a+b) whole squared..etc. Don't scold the students when they do silly mistakes. Just keep calm and try to help them so that they can solve the problem. Always boost their confidence by saying that …ohh yeah… I was also poor in math but I took math as an enemy and now I am a mathematics teacher although you were not poor…don't take it personally but some students will take it positively. They think my sir/mam was once also very poor but now he/she is a math teacher I should also try once. Tell them some funny jokes related to math like I created this one. If you want to appreciate a girl then say her you are looking 1 by cos c. (1 by cos c = sec c.. repeat this one sec c, sec c.. I think now you got my point..). Remember that “Mathematics is the versatile queen of all the subjects”. It's not a subject it was a language in ancient times. Even if the hardest problem of mathematics also has a solution which is inside the problem, only you have to take the right steps to solve that. Inspire students with this quote.
