About Silky

Hi, I'm Silky — a certified yoga teacher and movement therapist passionate about healing through intentional motion and breath. I completed my 500-hour Teacher Training Course from Rudra Yogpeeth in Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world. My journey with yoga is deeply personal — it began as a way to reconnect with myself and has since grown into a calling to help others do the same.

For the past 5 years, I’ve been practicing creative movement and dance therapy, exploring how free, expressive movement can unlock emotional healing and inner strength. I bring this experience into my yoga teaching, blending traditional practices like Hatha and Vinyasa yoga with fluid, intuitive movement that helps students release tension, build awareness, and move with authenticity.

My sessions are grounded, nurturing, and open to all levels — designed to help you tune into your body, expand your breath, and find stillness in motion.

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

    My journey into yoga began through dance. As a dance teacher, I was always fascinated by movement, rhythm, and expression, but over time I became increasingly curious about what was happening beneath the surface — how the body works internally, how breath supports movement, and how the mind influences physical expression.

    While dance trained my body, yoga opened the door to a deeper understanding of alignment, anatomy, and the subtle connection between body, breath, and mind. What started as a desire to improve my movement and prevent injury gradually evolved into a genuine interest in inner awareness, mental clarity, and holistic well-being.

    Through yoga, I found a practice that not only complimented my background in dance but also expanded it, allowing me to explore stillness, mindfulness, and self-connection. This integration of movement and inner awareness ultimately inspired me to become a yoga teacher and share this balanced approach with others.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

    My motivation to teach comes from my own transformative journey from dance to yoga. Dance taught me discipline, expression, and physical awareness, but yoga showed me how movement can be healing, mindful, and deeply connected to the inner self. Experiencing this shift inspired me to share more than just physical practice — I wanted to guide others toward balance, self-awareness, and well-being.

    I am especially motivated by the people I teach. Watching students grow stronger, more confident, and more connected to their bodies and minds reminds me why I chose this path. Yoga has helped me understand myself on a deeper level, and teaching allows me to pass on that understanding, helping others find calm, strength, and clarity in their own lives.
  • How does your work help society?

    My work helps society by promoting physical health, mental well-being, and self-awareness in a balanced and accessible way. Through yoga, I create a space where people can slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and manage stress in today’s fast-paced world.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

    I don’t have just one role model, but I am inspired by teachers who embody balance, humility, and authenticity in their practice. I deeply admire yoga teachers who live what they teach — those who integrate mindfulness, compassion, and self-awareness into their daily lives, not just on the mat.

    I am also inspired by my early mentors in dance, who taught me discipline, dedication, and the importance of understanding the body. Their influence, combined with the wisdom of traditional yoga philosophy, shaped my approach to teaching.

    These influences remind me that true leadership in teaching comes from continuous learning, personal practice, and guiding others with empathy and presence.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

    Outside of teaching, I enjoy activities that continue to nourish both my body and mind. I still love exploring movement through dance, as it allows me to express creativity and stay connected to my roots. I also enjoy personal yoga practice, meditation, and learning more about anatomy, mindfulness, and holistic well-being.

    In my free time, I like spending time in nature, listening to music, and engaging in creative practices that help me unwind and stay inspired. These hobbies help me maintain balance, spark creativity, and bring fresh energy and perspective back into my teaching.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

    One moment that stands out in my professional journey was with a student who initially came to class only for physical flexibility. Coming from my background in dance, I understood that mindset well. Over time, as we focused on breath and mindful movement, I noticed a shift — not just in their posture, but in their presence.

    After one class, the student shared that it was the first time in weeks they had felt calm and truly connected to their body. That conversation reminded me that yoga is not just about how a pose looks, but how it makes someone feel internally. Experiences like this continue to inspire me and reaffirm why I chose to teach — to create space for healing, awareness, and transformation beyond physical practice.
