My teaching is based on unlocking the origins of Chinese characters — a method even many native speakers don’t know. This makes characters easier to remember and far less intimidating. For example: 兔 (rabbit) has a tail, while 免 (without) is the same shape but without the tail. Using these stories, students retain characters quickly and progress faster. I also bring Chinese to life through food, recipes, and cultural cues (many of which you can see on my channel). This creates strong memory anchors and makes learning enjoyable. Alongside this, I know the exact exam requirements for GCSE and A-Level, so lessons balance creativity with results. Typical Lesson Length: - 60 minutes (standard lesson) - 90 minutes (exam prep or advanced learners) - 30 minutes (younger students or conversation practice) Qualifications & Experience: - Native Chinese teacher with extensive experience tutoring GCSE, A-Level, and HSK (1–6). - 20 years as a compliance lawyer at the highest level, giving me precise command of the Chinese language and classical texts. - Deep knowledge of Chinese literature and poetry, which enriches lessons beyond exams.
