About Landon
My name is Landon Conley, but my students call me "Kong Laoshi." I graduated with a degree in Chinese Language Education from Kennesaw State University in May 2024. Previously, I have informally taught English in Seongnam, South Korea at a P-12 private school. After taking classes in French, Spanish, Korean, and Chinese, I have had wonderful and transformative opportunities to break out of my linguistic and cultural shell and see how important it is to learn another person's language and customs. I decided to be a foreign language teacher to give others a similar opportunity to open their minds to other people's experiences and find a place for themselves outside of their own country.

As a non-native speaker, I find Mandarin an exciting puzzle to solve and love to guide others towards solving it for themselves. I have a great interest in Chinese characters and emphasize breaking down the characters into their basic pieces and putting them back together to make them easy to understand. I am student-centered, therefore, I am more than flexible in meeting students' needs and interests. I have taught Mandarin already to 8th to 12th grade classes for a year and have received a Georgia P-12th grade Chinese teaching certification. I am to teach reading, writing, vocabulary, character comprehension, grammar, and philosophy, and I hope you will be able to love the Chinese language and culture as much as I.
