About Andrew
My name is Andrew, and I have a Ph.D. in chemistry. Outside of teaching, I do experiments modifying materials with lasers! I love to talk about chemistry, and how it relates to the real world in our everyday lives. From OLED TVs, to medicine, to the roads we drive on, chemistry is everywhere. I hope to bring a passion for this to others! I also have a cat named Newton, as I had to name him after a scientist.

I am a passionate Ph.D. chemist who is confident in teaching a variety of topics in chemistry, as well as other sciences. With my background in physical chemistry, I am also quite strong in math and can teach those topics as well. I like to tailor my lessons to the specific student. I will typically look at what the student is currently learning, then I will work through problems alongside the student to better establish what is difficult for them. Once this is established, lessons can focus on what is difficult for the student. With chemistry, my focus is always on extensive interaction and problem solving with the student, otherwise the information can be difficult to retain. Quite often, students can feel they understand the process of problems when they have the answer, however faulter under pressure in test environments.
