About Matthew
Hi, this is Matt and I am a chemical engineer from the University of Rochester. You might be wondering: what exactly is a chemical engineer? I get to use both math and chemistry to devise unique solutions in our world. That might be in sustainable energy, food industries, general chemical production, and even deal with medical modeling.
This gives me a unique angle to help you with math and chemistry whether you are in high school, middle school, or younger. I am all about applying the lessons you might be thinking don't matter or seem silly. There is a lot out in the world that can be well explained by math and the sciences.
I have a passion for being your guide in learning, and I always want to understand where you are at and build from there. Most times you are a lot further along than you think!
Other cool things about me are that I play jazz saxophone and I am a baseball player. I love music and sports!

As a chemical engineer graduate from the University of Rochester, I have an in depth knowledge of engineering, mathematics, chemistry, and general sciences. A lot of times just having this knowledge is not enough to pass it on effectively.
Throughout my experience as a tutor in college as well as coaching young kids, I have understood it is not just what is being said but how the knowledge is delivered. I find I am able to quickly form a relationship with a student and then figure out different ways to deliver the proper instructions that often varies case-to-case.
I really like to apply the classic model of I demonstrate while walking the student through it, I help hands on with the student to complete whatever task is at hand, and then I allow them to do it themselves, under supervision of course. This way I can deliver the information, help them apply it and answer any questions along the way, and then allow the student to go on their own and even devise a method that works for them given what they have just been told.
I feel as though I have a passion for teaching and working with kids that may be struggling in any area. Asking for help is a huge step, and my job is being available in the best capacity possible to help students wherever they are at in learning.
