About Selena

Hello! I'm Selena, a native Mandarin speaker and a certified Early Childhood Educator in Vancouver. I hold a BC ECE Certificate with Infant/Toddler and Special Needs endorsements, and I've worked as a kindergarten teacher for two years. I also hold a current Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR/AED Level B certificate, and a valid BC criminal record clearance for working with children (valid through December 2029). Before becoming an educator, I worked as a registered nurse for 25 years — so your child's health, safety, and well-being are in experienced hands. I'm warm, patient, and truly love being around children. I'd love to help your child fall in love with Mandarin!

I'm a certified early childhood educator, and I teach Mandarin the way young children learn best: through play! Your child will sing Mandarin songs, hear stories, play games, and chat in everyday Mandarin — no dry memorization, no pressure, just joyful learning.
Step by step, your child will build:
• Confidence in listening and speaking — greetings, counting, colours, animals, and simple everyday sentences
• A natural ear for Mandarin tones through songs and rhymes
• Pinyin and character recognition for older children, at their own pace
• Support with Mandarin homework and reading for school-aged children
Lessons are one-on-one, tailored to your child's age and personality — at your home or online. The first trial lesson is free.
English-speaking, Cantonese-speaking, and bilingual families are all warmly welcome — no Mandarin background needed!
