About Leanna

My name is Leanna and I am a math, science, and exam prep tutor. I enjoy teaching because I love helping students build confidence in their abilities by breaking down challenging concepts into manageable steps. Whether we're working through a difficult math problem, preparing for the ACT, or strengthening science fundamentals, my goal is to help students understand the material rather than simply memorize answers. I teach online via Zoom or Google Meet, and I offer a free 30-minute intro chat to map out your goals. Book a lesson with me to get started!

About the class

I love tutoring! I strive to teach in ways that connect academic concepts to real-life interests and opportunities, helping students stay engaged while building the confidence to take ownership of their learning. In addition to supporting students with traditional schoolwork, I have a unique teaching background from my previous roles as a scuba divemaster and First Mate on a sailing tall ship, where I worked extensively with both teens and adults. These experiences shaped my ability to explain complex ideas clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and create a supportive, encouraging environment. I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and am currently working towards a second degree in nursing, further strengthening my foundation in math and science.
