About Caitlin

Hi! I'm a BCom Financial Accounting graduate, specialising in Chartered Accountancy, and I'm currently completing my Honours degree in Management Accounting at Stellenbosch University.

Mathematics has always been one of my favourite subjects. I achieved 91% in Matric Mathematics and 99% in my first-year university Financial Mathematics module. I've also achieved two distinctions in my postgraduate studies: Advanced Financial Accounting and Advanced Management Accounting.

I've always enjoyed the logical and problem-solving side of Maths, and I find it particularly rewarding when a difficult concept finally starts to make sense. I'd love to help other students experience that same feeling.

I understand that Mathematics can be frustrating and overwhelming, especially when students fall behind or lose confidence in their abilities. I believe that with patience, encouragement and the right explanations, students can make significant progress.

I'm friendly, patient and approachable, and I want students to feel comfortable asking questions without worrying about making mistakes.

My goal is to share my enthusiasm for Mathematics while helping students build confidence, strengthen their understanding and achieve their academic goals.

I believe that anyone can improve at Mathematics with the right explanations, practice and encouragement. Maths has always been one of my favourite subjects, and I want to help students feel more confident and comfortable with a subject that can often seem intimidating.

My tutoring approach is patient, supportive and focused on understanding concepts rather than simply memorising formulae. I enjoy breaking down complicated problems into smaller, manageable steps and explaining the reasoning behind each calculation.

A typical lesson begins by identifying the topics a student finds challenging. We'll then work through explanations and examples together before moving on to practice questions that the student can attempt independently. I encourage questions and adapt the pace of lessons to suit each student's individual needs.

My lessons are aimed at high school Mathematics students, particularly those following the NSC curriculum, whether they need help strengthening their foundations, preparing for tests and examinations, or working towards higher marks.

My goal is to help students develop the confidence and problem-solving skills to tackle unfamiliar questions independently, rather than relying on memorised methods.
