About Alyssa
I began my yoga journey at just 16 years old, and fell in love quickly with the practice. I have since practiced in dozens of studios, become experienced in different styles of yoga, and earned my teaching certification through Yoga Alliance. Currently, I teach group classes at two Los Angeles yoga studios: North Ray Yoga and All Styles Tribe. In addition to being a yoga teacher, I am also a mental health therapist in training, and am currently completing my master’s degree in social work at UCLA. My combined knowledge of yoga and human psychology allow me to approach teaching through a lens of somatic healing and care. Outside of yoga and school, I am an enthusiastic salsa and bachata dancer, musician, fiber artist, avid hiker, and a lover of the ocean. I live in Los Angeles with my cat, Cosette, my dog, Anka, and my ball python, Pearl. My website is yogawithalyssa.com.

I am a Yoga Alliance certified teacher with over 9 years of experience as a dedicated practitioner. I teach various styles of yoga, focusing on Hatha, Yin, and Vinyasa.
My practice honors the history and traditions of yoga and the yogic lifestyle. Students who work with me will not only learn the benefits and proper physical expression of asanas (poses), but will also find themselves deeply immersed in the spiritual practices of yoga through pranayama (breath work), dhyana (meditation), and more. For beginner students, I recommend starting with Hatha or Yin, as these styles will allow you to spend more time in each pose and make adjustments as you learn proper expression. As students become more advanced, the door to Vinyasa opens, a style in which the student "flows" from one pose to the next in a more fast-paced, rhythmic sequence.
My lessons are customized to each student's individual needs, abilities, and goals.

Perfect! Alyssa, is a next level yoga teacher. Our lessons are at my house and she is able to make adjustments to my basic poses that have changed my entire practice. She also a beautiful knowledge of the history and traditions of yoga. I highly recommend.

This first free class with Alyssa will allow you to get to know each other and to specify the exact learning requirements for the upcoming classes.

Details
The first free intro lesson will be virtual. All subsequent lessons may be in-person or virtual, depending on your preference. Online classes and in-person classes are held at the same base rate of $80/hr. In-person classes may be held at your home, a public park, or at the studios where I teach (the student will be responsible for the studio rental fee). In-person lessons will include a travel fee equivalent to $20/hr spent driving, plus standard mileage. I can hold minimum 1-hour sessions in a private, heated studio at North Ray Yoga (either location: Echo Park or Mid-City) for an additional fee of $30/hr (availability varies). I can also hold private lessons in a non-heated studio in West Adams for $10/hr (availability varies).
