About Miss Beck
I am a 4 year trained Secondary Teacher from Western Australia, with 24 years teaching experience. I major in Drama and Theatre Arts with English as a minor. I am also capable of teaching and tutoring in the following areas: Media Studies, Photography, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and have been a relief teacher (substitute) across all Learning Areas. I love teaching and especially in the Arts.
‘Those that can’t do, teach!’… Why not do both?!
I have directed and performed in many local, state and school productions in my lifetime, from a humble shrub to a cartwheeling Caviler disguised up as a dancing bear (and, I was the best dang shrub I ever could be). I have worked closely with Bell Shakespeare Theatre Company as part of their annual Regional Teacher Mentor Program bringing that influx of priceless experience to my students on the other side of the country. I am a qualified ATAR Drama teacher and love to help students develop and perform their own dramatic works and those of other playwrights. I also have a keen interest in Australian theatre, companies, plays, playwrights and actors. There is so much talent in our corner of the world leading me to love delving into this learning area when given the chance.
I can help you with production & design elements -costumes, makeup, props sets, LX and SFX as well as understand the history of theatre, specific styles of performance, practitioners, playwrights and the roles of the production team- to name a few.
I look forward to getting to know you better and assisting you in grasping key learning outcomes and concepts in the areas you would like to explore further.

A focus on areas you would like to improve on, or be introduced to during our lessons, is paramount.
I believe in a healthy balance between both the practical and theoretical components of theatre units when planning arts workshops.
Lessons can be tailored to suit the student’s needs, whether that be completion of unit tasks that I have set, tutoring for school based assessments, exam prep or rehearsal of professional audition pieces- no stone goes unturned.
