About Marlene
I help parents, teachers, caregivers, mentors, ministry leaders, and helping professionals develop the skills and capacity they need to work effectively with people experiencing trauma, crisis, disaster, behavioral challenges, and high levels of stress. My approach combines practical coaching, communication skills, crisis-informed thinking, education, mentoring, and real-world experience. Rather than simply focusing on the behavior we see on the surface, I help clients look at the situation as a whole—what may be happening, what demands are being placed on the individual, where capacity has been exceeded, and what strategies can help restore stability and build new skills. Together, we can work on: • Communication & De-escalation Learn how to communicate clearly and calmly when emotions and behaviors are escalating. • Capacity Building Identify what a person can realistically manage and develop strategies for gradually increasing capacity. • Trauma-Informed Responses Learn to recognize how trauma and overwhelming stress can affect behavior, communication, trust, learning, and relationships. • Parents & Caregivers Develop practical tools for responding to challenging behaviors while maintaining connection, boundaries, consistency, and compassion. • Teachers & Educators Build strategies for creating structure, communicating expectations, recognizing stress responses, and supporting students who may have difficulty regulating or engaging. • Practitioners & Helping Professionals Strengthen professional communication, crisis response, boundaries, decision-making, and strategies for managing demanding situations. • Resilience & Professional Wellbeing Learn how to recognize your own stress signals, protect your capacity, establish healthy boundaries, and reduce the risk of burnout and compassion fatigue. My coaching philosophy is simple: We don’t just manage the moment—we build the capacity to handle the next moment better. Every challenging situation can become an opportunity to identify a need, develop a skill, create a strategy, and build greater confidence. Sessions can be individualized around a current challenge, a specific population you work with, professional development goals, or the development of a practical response plan for recurring situations.

Topics may include: * Understanding trauma, stress, crisis, and behavioral responses * Recognizing when a person’s capacity is overwhelmed * Building emotional regulation and resilience * Communication during stressful or difficult situations * De-escalation and responding to challenging behaviors * Creating structure, predictability, and safety * Supporting children, teens, and adults after crisis or traumatic events * Recognizing caregiver and professional stress * Preventing compassion fatigue and burnout * Building healthy boundaries * Developing practical response plans * Strengthening confidence and decision-making under pressure * Turning difficult situations into opportunities for skill-building and growth My coaching philosophy: We don’t simply ask, “How do I stop this behavior?” We ask, “What is happening beneath the behavior, what capacity is being exceeded, and what support or skill is needed next?” The goal is not perfection. The goal is to help you develop the capacity, confidence, communication skills, and practical strategies to navigate challenging situations with greater clarity and consistency. This is educational and coaching-based support and does not replace psychotherapy, medical treatment, or emergency/crisis services.
