About Maximiliano

I am a recent graduate from Berklee College of Music in Contemporary Writing and Production. I have tutored for more than 3 years, certified Level 3 tutor by the College Reading and Learning Association. My main instrument is voice, but I play piano and guitar for making my music. Part of my background started when I became the winner of "The Voice" Guadalajara in 2019 in Mexico. After that, my experience relied on singing at numerous contests, festivals, even with Latin Grammy Winners such as Andrés Cepeda! I have also composed for orchestra, big band and many different ensembles. I am specialized in Writing for TV and New Media, therefore I breathe, eat and live music every day. My passion for teaching started even before attending college. I like helping my students achieve their goals by sharing our passion for music. I like learning from them and assist with positive reinforcement and supporting their learning style.

Find out more about Maximiliano

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I developed my passion for music since I was a kid. I used to sing all the time and my music professor at elementary school "discovered" my talent when I was 6 years old. Ever since then, I started playing guitar and taking singing lessons, training my voice and stage presence.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I really don't have a preference at this moment, I've been so exposed to many genres that I listen to them all regularly. The main ones are Bossa Nova, Classic and Alternative Rock, Jazz, Orchestral music, Latin and Ballads. Some artists could be Luis Miguel, Pink Floyd, Paul Desmond, Arctic Monkeys, Ella Fitzgerald, John Williams, and many others.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

I think music reading is one of the best tools a musician can have, it opens so many doors and opportunities. It can be difficult because it requires practice and time but it's all based on passion for music and anyone can do it!
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I would say that all instruments are difficult to master. They all require practice time and discipline, but I also have to say that Harp players are insane, for sure it's one of the hardest instruments to play.
  • What are your keys to success?

For me success can take many shapes, it all depends on the goal we want to achieve and how we want to do it. I would say that success can be achieved only through passion and perseverance.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Chris Martin, Alicia Keys and Sting. Mostly because I admire their careers and also the fact that they would be at a bar in the early hours of the morning can potentially bring a nice conversation!
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

One of the most difficult classes for me was Writing for Orchestra. For that class we were required to learn how to write for every instrument in the orchestra, knowing techniques and articulations. It all changed when I realized all the possibilities I have for writing my own orchestral music and when I started applying it to my writing. My final project "Ode To The Wind" was a big success and I am very happy I had that opportunity.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I adapt my sessions to the student's learning style and needs. I like supporting them and giving them the best of me as a tutor.
