I am an experienced tutor, have been tutoring for the past 4 years in Science and Maths. I am a recent graduate of Bristol University, with a first class Masters in Chemistry. I have worked with the SchoolsPlus scheme (run by Bristol Hub) as a project coordinator and tutor, an outreach programme providing extra support to students in disadvantaged schools. I have also worked as a private tutor, giving one-on-one attention to students to help consolidate their understanding. Currently I am working as a language assistant in the UTEQ university.
I spent a year studying abroad in Spain as part of my degree and so have an excellent understanding of the Spanish language. I have also spent time living in Mexico.
I don't believe that memorising facts is a good way to learn a subject. My methods focus on teaching and understanding the principles that underpin all aspects of a subject. Understanding the facts rather than simply learning them off by heart takes up much less space in your brain and is a much more reliable way of learning! Everybody learns in a different way and this is something i take into account when planning my lessons.
