About Jiayi
Hi! My name is Jiayi, and I am a native Mandarin speaker from China currently living in the United States.
I recently graduated from Northwestern University, where I studied Learning and Organizational Change while competing as a Division I student-athlete. Living and studying in both Chinese and English environments has given me a deep understanding of the challenges language learners face.
I believe that learning a language is about building connections and confidence. Whether you are a beginner, a heritage speaker, or simply interested in Chinese culture, my goal is to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where you feel comfortable practicing and making mistakes.
I especially enjoy working with children and beginners because I love seeing students gain confidence and discover that learning Mandarin can be both practical and fun.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy golf, traveling, and exploring different cultures. These experiences help me bring real-life conversations and authentic cultural perspectives into every lesson.

· I believe that language is best learned through communication, not memorization. My goal is to help students build confidence and enjoy using Mandarin in everyday life.
· As a native Mandarin speaker who has studied and lived in the United States, I understand the challenges bilingual learners face. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and expressing themselves naturally.
· Rather than focusing only on vocabulary lists or grammar drills, I incorporate conversations, stories, games, and real-life situations into each lesson.
A Typical Lesson：
• Warm-up conversation based on the student's level.
• Introduce one new topic or language pattern.
• Interactive activities such as role-playing, storytelling, or picture descriptions.
• Review and practical application through speaking.
· Lessons are adjusted to each student's goals, whether they want to improve daily conversation, maintain their heritage language, or build a stronger academic foundation.
