About Carla
I have a degree in Chemical Engineering (Materials) from Florida State University and a master's degree in Polymer Science from Free University Berlin, plus a bachelor's in Creative Writing (Hons) from the University of Wollongong, where I am currently undergoing work toward a PhD. All of those sound like lofty, disparate degrees, but all they mean is that I've had to do any possible kind of writing you're currently dealing with, and survived to tell the tale. I have experience tutoring both at the high school level and also at the university level, which has taught me patience and supportiveness. I get the necessity of understanding the theory and the rules, but focus primarily on practical solutions. I don't beat around the bush; I let my students come to me with the areas in which they think they are weakest, and we work hard at them until you get the hang of it all. Come to me with your questions, and we'll figure them out together! With my background in such wide disciplines and my experience tutoring in all of them, I have learned that teaching others something you are passionate about is the ultimate positive satisfaction. I love to make learning not just useful, but fun.

I am a developmental editor in publishing, and also worked as a beta reader and proofreader for ten years. From this work, I have learned to adapt to people's particular styles of communication.
