About Katie
I am a musical theatre student at Performers College, splitting my time between Hertfordshire and Birmingham, and will be entering my Graduate year this September (as of 2025). From an early age, I have always been involved in music, both in and outside of my school setting, and have first-hand experience of how formative music education can be for both mental health and academic stimulation. I provide a safe and nurturing space for students, giving them the ability to develop their skills at their own pace. My singing background is heavily steeped in the Classical style, doing both ABRSM and Trinity classical singing exams from age 11 upwards, culminating with the completion of my ACTL performance diploma with Trinity College London, which I have completed alongside my first two years at University. During my time at Performers College, I have been exposed to styles of singing, such as the Estill method, which I now use to assist musical theatre techniques. I am a firm believer that the best technique base for singing is rooted in classical singing techniques, as it provides the most support and protection for your voice. I have had previous experience teaching choirs of children between school years 7-10, leading rehearsals and preparations for concerts. I have also been the musical director for projects during my University course. I also have experience with music theory, completing both my A-level and GCSEs in music, completing music theory exams, and playing in orchestras, and can tutor music theory up to a grade 5 standard.

My lessons are targeted towards students who are beginner/intermediate singers (grade-wise, in terms of Trinity College London and ABRSM, this would be between grades 1-5), with lessons being 30 mins in length. I specialise in classical and legit musical theatre singing, and am studying the Estill method of singing at university. I believe singing should be a fun, encouraging, and uplifting experience. Allowing students to develop both their confidence, as well as safe singing practice. Lessons can either be provided online year-round or in person (at my home) outside of Semester time.
