About Mrs Alexis

Hello! My name is Alexis Riley, and I bring 10 years of passionate and dedicated teaching experience to the table. With a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, I am committed to creating engaging and dynamic social studies lessons that make history come alive for middle and high school students in northeast Missouri.

As an experienced teacher, department chair, and lead communication contact in my school, I have honed my skills in developing critical thinking and writing abilities in my students. I have curated curriculums that not only meet state expectations but also captivate student interests, ensuring a well-rounded and enriching educational experience.

My teaching philosophy is centered around fostering a supportive and stimulating learning environment where every student feels confident and motivated to succeed. I use a variety of innovative teaching methods, from interactive storytelling to hands-on projects, to ensure that each lesson is both informative and enjoyable.

Parents can trust that their investment in my tutoring services is worthwhile. I have a proven track record of success, having served on the building leadership team and been nominated by colleagues to assist in hiring new administration. Beyond the classroom, I am a mom of three and a former college athlete with a deep love for sports and coaching.

I am dedicated to helping your child excel academically and personally. Let's make learning an adventure together and achieve great things!

My teaching approach combines engaging storytelling, critical thinking exercises, and innovative projects. I use various resources, including primary source documents, multimedia, and hands-on activities to make lessons both informative and enjoyable. I aim to foster a deep understanding and appreciation of social studies by connecting historical events to current issues and students' everyday lives.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
- Introduction and Objectives: Brief overview of the day's topic and goals.
- Engagement Activity: Interactive activity to pique interest (e.g., discussion, video, or primary source analysis).
- Lesson Core: Detailed topic exploration using various teaching materials and methods.
- Critical Thinking Exercise: Activities like debates, role-plays, or group discussions to deepen understanding.
- Conclusion and Reflection: Summary of key points and a reflective exercise or question for students to ponder.

What Sets Me Apart:
My dedication to student success and my ability to adapt lessons to fit individual learning styles set me apart. I prioritize creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel confident to express their ideas and ask questions. My experience in curriculum development ensures that my lessons are well-structured and aligned with educational standards.

Who the Lessons Are For:
My lessons are ideal for middle and high school students who are looking to improve their understanding of social studies. Whether it’s preparing for exams, understanding complex concepts, or developing research skills, my lessons cater to a wide range of academic needs and learning styles.

Let's make learning an adventure together!
