  I am a native Romanian speaker, so my fluency is a result of my origins and deep cultural connection to the language.

  While I love many figures, I find the enduring spirit captured in the works of Mihai Eminescu, one of Romania's most celebrated poets, to be an emblematic representative. His writing encapsulates the profound beauty and soul of the Romanian language and culture.

• 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

  I love the beautiful custom of emphasizing warmth and hospitality, often demonstrated around the holidays. A phrase that connects to my life in Spain is the lovely exchange of well-wishes like "Sărbători fericite!" (Happy Holidays!) and the feeling of dor—a deep sense of longing or yearning unique to the Romanian soul.

• 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  Speaking Romanian matters deeply to me because it allows me to help others connect with my culture. I am passionate about guiding students toward their goals, whether they are learning for work, travel, or personal growth.

• 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  The main difficulty for many beginners is overcoming the initial barrier to speaking, as true fluency only begins after mastering the A2 level. The best aid is a strong focus on conversational practice, supported by fun, accessible multimedia resources like watching familiar movies with Romanian subtitles and reading popular children’s books, such as Regele leu (The Lion King).

• 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  A valuable anecdote from my teaching involves a student who was highly motivated to read in Romanian. They shared a PDF of a short story they found, which turned out to be my favorite one from my own childhood—it was a wonderful moment of connecting through language and a shared cultural memory.

• 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  Living in Spain as a Romanian native teacher has given me a unique perspective on the language learning journey. It helps me to empathize with the challenges my students face and adapt my lessons to diverse learners, all while keeping cultural discussions relevant, even when discussing topics like Christmas lights in Malaga.
