About Leo
My name is Likho Potelwa, a current BSc Computer Science student at Nelson Mandela University. I have experience tutoring Mathematics and Physical Sciences to Grade 11 and 12 learners, and I'm passionate about helping students unlock their academic potential. Although I don’t have a formal teaching degree, I’ve seen excellent results from the learners I’ve supported, many of whom significantly improved their understanding and performance. My approach is learner-centered, patient, and focused on building both confidence and skill. I am fluent in English and isiXhosa, and I teach in a way that simplifies complex concepts using relatable examples. In Grade 11, I failed not due to a lack of intelligence, but because I was distracted and did not take school seriously. That failure became a turning point for me. I returned more focused, disciplined, and determined to improve myself. It taught me two valuable lessons, time should never be wasted, and sometimes failure is the wake-up call we need to become better versions of ourselves.
As a tutor, I bring that same mindset to my teaching. I focus on building confidence and understanding, not just memorization. My methodology is based on simplifying complex concepts, using real life examples, and encouraging active participation from learners. I aim to create a space where students are not afraid to make mistakes, because I believe that’s where real learning begins.
I am proficient in English and isiXhosa, and I am able to teach comfortably in both. My lessons are interactive, supportive, and tailored to each student’s pace and learning style. I offer lessons primarily in Mathematics and Physical Sciences.
