Dr Ezekiel Uba Nwose supervised my PhD study. I first heard about him two days after I arrived at my university campus in 2018. During our discussions in my hostel, my mates were talking about a lecturer whom they described as patient to teach students and explain research concepts and topics in the simplest ways and respectful to them. I was pleasantly surprised to meet with him in a meeting with my principal supervisor the following day.
Dr Nwose employs a pragmatic style of teaching that beautifully combines the play way , student focused and exploratory methods of teaching. Sometimes he will put the topic of discussion in context through sharing experiences, jokes and even biblical quotations. In other instances he will ask questions that will prompt you to do more research. What I admire most about him is that he always makes time for his students.
I always thought that I knew what research was all about, but that was not the case until I started my PhD in Nursing study. He was quick to discover that I was struggling with research at higher level. He encouraged me to read more about research within a specific time frame before he started coaching me step by step. I now have 18 research publication most of which are peer reviewed. Thanks to the coaching received from Dr Nwose. There is a thin line between a lecturer and a teacher, I can safely and humbly describe Dr Nwose as a hybrid of both. He has the skill, experience and dexterity in handling inexperience and experienced learners.
