About Shilan
Hi! I’m a friendly and approachable qualified Science Teacher who enjoys helping students discover that Science can be much easier than it first seems!
I have a BSc (Hons) in Science Education from Sheffield Hallam University, specialising in Physics, and I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Through my teacher training, I gained experience teaching across several secondary schools and working with students of different ages, abilities and learning needs.
I’ve taught KS3 and GCSE Science, including Physics, Biology and Chemistry, and have experience supporting students with SEND.
I understand that choosing a tutor is an important decision for parents. I aim to provide a professional, reliable and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence. I take the time to understand each student’s individual needs and adapt my lessons accordingly.
I also believe that good communication with parents is important. I’m happy to provide feedback on areas we have worked on, progress made and topics that may need further support.
My goal isn’t just to help students get through their exams, but to help them feel more confident in their abilities and realise that they are capable of doing well in Science.

How I Teach
I use a variety of teaching methods to make Science easier to understand, including:

My aim is to help students understand concepts rather than simply memorise them, while building their confidence and exam technique.
