About Carren
I am a qualified English teacher with a PGCE from the University of Bristol. Growing up between the UK and Hong Kong, I am passionate about languages and literature. I became a professional English teacher in the UK and taught KS3 and KS4 students for 4 years both online and in secondary schools. I am familiar with Edexcel and Cambridge mark schemes and assessment objectives.
As a speaker of Cantonese, I am uniquely equipped to help native Cantonese speakers transition smoothly into the UK GCSE curriculum.
I believe English and poetry should be for everyone and no one should feel anxious about language learning. I want students to share what they're passionate about and feel confident in using a language that may not be their own.

Whether you are struggling with unseen poetry, analysing Shakespeare, or mastering SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar) for your exams, I tailor every session to your target grade. We will work with mark schemes and learn about what the examiner is looking for.
