  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your subject and in private tutoring?

My interest in Mathematics and Physics started while I was still in high school. I was always curious about how things work and why certain patterns appear in nature and in numbers. Mathematics taught me logical thinking and problem-solving, while Physics showed me how those mathematical ideas apply to real life. I became especially interested in topics involving motion, graphs, mechanics, and problem solving because they challenged me to think deeply rather than memorize.

My interest in tutoring developed naturally. I often helped classmates who were struggling with certain concepts, especially in Mathematics. I noticed that after I explained topics in a simpler and more relatable way, many of them began improving and gaining confidence. Seeing someone move from “I don’t understand” to “Now I get it!” motivated me deeply. That experience made me realize that teaching is not only about knowing the content, but also about helping others believe in themselves.

Over time, tutoring became something I genuinely enjoyed because it allowed me to make a direct impact on learners’ academic journeys and confidence levels.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach Mathematics and Physics. What I enjoy most about these subjects is that they develop critical thinking skills and teach learners how to approach problems logically and systematically.

In Mathematics, I particularly enjoy teaching:

    Functions and graphs

    Calculus

    Algebra

    Trigonometry

    Geometry

I enjoy showing students how different topics connect with each other. For example, how algebra links to functions, or how calculus explains motion and optimization problems.

    In Physics, I especially enjoy:

    Mechanics

    Newton’s Laws

    Momentum

    Electricity

    Chemistry

I like helping learners see that Physics is not just theory, but something that explains everyday life—from moving cars to electricity in our homes. I use PhET simulations to make sure that learners understand the concept deeply.

The topics I enjoy a little less are usually the ones students already fear before even trying them, because that fear can become a barrier to learning. However, I see those topics as opportunities to change learners’ mindsets and help them realize they are capable.
  • 3) Did you have any role models? Perhaps a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I had Lecturers that inspired me greatly. The Lecturers who impacted me most were not necessarily the strictest or the smartest, but the ones who were patient and believed in their learners. I admired these lecturers who could explain difficult concepts in simple ways and who never made students feel ashamed for asking questions.

What inspired me most was seeing how a teacher could completely change a learner’s confidence and attitude toward a subject. Some teachers made me realize that education is not only about passing exams—it is about empowering people and opening opportunities for them.

Those experiences influenced the type of teacher I want to become: someone who is approachable, encouraging, and committed to helping learners grow academically and personally.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I believe a good tutor needs:

    Patience

    Strong subject knowledge

    Good communication skills

    Empathy

    Consistency

    Passion for teaching

A tutor must understand that learners do not all learn at the same pace. Some need visual explanations, others need repetition, and others need practical examples. A good tutor adapts to the learner instead of expecting every learner to adapt to one teaching style.

Another important quality is encouragement. Many students struggle not because they are incapable, but because they lack confidence. A tutor should create an environment where learners feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions.

Lastly, a good tutor should inspire discipline, critical thinking, and independence so that learners eventually become confident problem solvers on their own.
  • 5) Could you share an anecdote related to your subject or your student days?

One experience that stayed with me was helping a learners who believed they would never understand Mathematics. They struggled badly with algebra and functions and had almost given up on the subject completely.

I started helping them after school by breaking problems into smaller steps and explaining the reasoning behind each step instead of simply giving answers. Slowly, their marks improved, but more importantly, their confidence improved.

I still remember the excitement they had after passing a test they thought they would fail. That moment reminded me that teaching is not just about marks—it is about helping people believe in their abilities.

Experiences like that played a major role in motivating me to pursue teaching and tutoring seriously
  • 6) Did you face any difficulties at school or university?

Yes, definitely. Like many students, I faced moments where certain topics felt overwhelming and difficult. There were times when balancing academic pressure, deadlines, and personal responsibilities became challenging.

One thing I learned from those experiences is that struggling with a subject does not mean you are incapable. Sometimes learners simply need time, practice, guidance, and the right explanation.

Those challenges made me more understanding as a teacher because I know what it feels like to be confused or frustrated academically. They taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of asking for help when you're struggling.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, an element of this particular subject, or something completely different?

One of my greatest passions is helping learners develop confidence in subjects they once feared. I enjoy seeing learners improve not only academically, but also in the way they think and approach problems.

I am especially passionate about problem-solving and helping learners understand concepts deeply instead of memorizing procedures. I enjoy showing students that Mathematics and Physics are not just school subjects—they are ways of thinking logically and understanding the world around us.

Beyond academics, I am passionate about motivating young people to believe that their background or current struggles do not define their future success.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof?

What makes me a Superprof is my dedication to helping learners truly understand their work and gain confidence in themselves. I do not focus only on getting the correct answer—I focus on helping students understand the process and reasoning behind it.

I am patient, approachable, and committed to adapting my teaching style to the learner’s needs. I believe every learner has potential when given the right support, encouragement, and guidance.

Because I teach Mathematics and Physics, I also help learners see connections between concepts and apply knowledge practically. My goal is not only to improve marks, but also to develop independent thinkers and confident problem solvers.

Most importantly, I genuinely care about my students’ progress and growth, and I always strive to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
