About Simona
I am a Bulgarian-born artist and professional oil painter based in London, specialising in landscape painting. My artistic journey began at the National High School of Fine Arts in Bulgaria, where I trained in iconography and developed a strong foundation in traditional painting techniques. During my studies there, I took part in collaborative projects and contributed and donated artwork to churches.
I later continued my education in London, completing my HND in Art and Design at David Game College, where I received an academic excellence award. I have been invited to exhibit in a number of prestigious galleries, including with the Royal Society of British Artists at the Mall Galleries in London.
Growing up near the Balkan mountains, my work has always been deeply inspired by nature. I specialise in oil painting, often using expressive techniques such as impasto to create movement, texture, and atmosphere. My paintings explore the emotional and psychological connection between people and the natural world, capturing both its beauty and intensity.
Alongside my work as an artist, I have several years of experience teaching art, including running children’s art classes and helping students develop their creative skills and confidence. I am passionate about supporting students at all levels, from beginners to those preparing for exams or developing their own artistic practice.
I continue to develop my work through exhibitions, exploring new techniques, and expanding my teaching through both in-person lessons and online courses.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s level, goals, and creative interests, whether you are a complete beginner or an intermediate/advanced artist looking to refine your skills. I create a supportive, encouraging environment where students can build confidence while developing both technical ability and personal artistic style.
For beginners, we start with the fundamentals such as drawing, observation skills, and colour theory. From there, we gradually move into painting techniques, including oil and acrylic painting, exploring different subject matters like still life, landscape, and wildlife. I also introduce a variety of materials and approaches, including mixed media, pastels, watercolour, and expressive techniques.
My teaching combines traditional fine art training with creative exploration. While my own artistic background is rooted in realism and professional oil painting, I also guide students through looser and more expressive styles such as impressionism, abstract work, and impasto techniques. I encourage experimentation and help students discover their own unique artistic voice.
Lessons often include learning from historical and contemporary artists, helping students understand different styles, techniques, and artistic movements in an engaging and inspiring way.
I have over three years of experience teaching children, including preparing students for GCSE-level art, and I am confident working with a wide range of ages. I also offer guidance for beginners and hobbyists who simply want to enjoy art and improve their skills.
Typical lesson length starts from one hour, with longer sessions (around two hours) recommended for children’s classes or more in-depth work.
I hold an HND in Art and Design from David Game College, as well as formal Fine Art education from the National High School of Fine Arts in Bulgaria. Alongside teaching, I am a practising professional oil painter with exhibition experience and award recognition.
My goal is to help each student grow creatively, build strong artistic foundations, and enjoy the process of making art.
