About Michael
I am a professional musician who has delivered professional music services across a range of scenarios, ranging from weddings/corporate events to larger concerts/creative performances with well-established musicians. I am an active member of several ensembles and have played at many of the leading Jazz clubs in and around London, such as Ronnie Scott's and Pizza Express, Dean Street to name a couple. Whilst I am mainly known as a jazz musician, I am also an organist and have experience of liturgical worship and sacred music, regularly performing at religious services, Evensongs and carol services.
I am an avid composer and regularly write for enjoyment. I also have a keen interest in vintage keyboard instruments, owning two Fender Rhodes pianos from the late 70s. Not only is this a major hobby of mine, but this instrument has also shared the stage with me on multiple occasions and is a key instrument in my original-music project, Echidna.

I've taught piano and music theory to students across a range of age groups and abilities, from complete beginners, advanced and everything in-between. I have a true passion for teaching and I aim to help each student achieve their goals and tailor their lessons to their individual needs. Lessons with me are 30 minutes (£20) long unless agreed otherwise. Please note that piano lessons are all in-person. Theory/harmony, however, can be either in person or online.
As a tutor:
- I am a tutor/jazz accompanist on The Original UK Jazz Summer School working alongside some of the finest musical educators in the country (Pete Churchill, Simon Purcell, Nikki Iles).
- I have had several students who have gone on to study at conservatoires both in the UK and the USA.
- I have accompanied students for exams and performances.
- I've assisted in various educational workshops with notable ensembles such as the London Symphony Orchestra and The National Jazz Youth Orchestra.
