About Sarah

I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) in 2019, earning an A on my Extended Essay titled “In what ways does Shakespeare criticize the appetite for violence in Elizabethan audiences in Titus Andronicus?” and receiving the highest grade in Mathematics HL (Calculus extension). I was Dux of the IB in my junior year, appeared on the Dean’s List three times throughout high school, and achieved a 1500 SAT, including 800s in both the Literature and Mathematics Level 2 subject tests. I was also a contributing author to the high school test-prep book titled, "Catch Up With Top Achievers: 2020 HSC and Beyond". I was accepted to Cornell University, where I studied Government and Computer Science, earned a 3.82 GPA, and made the Dean’s List. During my time there, I served as Copyright Editor for the Cornell Undergraduate Economic Review. I later transferred to King’s College London (KCL), where I graduated with Honors in Philosophy (Upper Second Class). At King’s, I was elected President of the Philosophy Society (2023–2025), where I grew the society from 10 to over 70 regular members by building an inclusive, discussion-driven academic community. I organized conferences and journal projects, moderated weekly debates on complex ethical and political topics, and received the Silver Crown Leadership Award for my contribution to student life. My honors dissertation, “Overcoming Political Ignorance: How a Democracy Can Reveal What You Really Want,” was commended for originality and clarity. I presented this independent research at Cumberland Lodge and the 2024 London Undergraduate Social Philosophy Conference, and received recommendations for excellence in two philosophy modules. Beyond my academic work, I assisted in forensic psychology research on eyewitness testimony and trauma-informed interviewing, and worked at Cornell’s Critical Ottoman & Post-Ottoman Studies Initiative and the Reppy Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies. Outside of academia, I have a long-standing interest in languages and cross-cultural communication. I am a French translator (having worked in Djibouti in 2024), achieved B2 proficiency in Arabic, and won first place in the National Mandarin Eisteddfod (2015 & 2016). As a student athlete and martial artist, I value discipline, focus, and balance—qualities I bring to my teaching. Together, these experiences have shaped a rigorous yet encouraging teaching style grounded in intellectual curiosity, clarity of thought, and academic integrity.

My lessons are designed to build lasting academic and analytical skills that students can apply across disciplines, not just in a single essay or subject. Depending on the student’s level, I begin with the fundamentals of argument structure, logic, and criticism, then move on to the foundations of academic inquiry: how to plan research, locate reliable sources, identify key information, and recognize what’s missing or worth pursuing further. I prefer to teach through examples and interactive analysis. A typical 60-minute lesson might focus on breaking down a research question, planning an essay, or evaluating the strength of an argument. Other sessions may involve reading short passages to reconstruct arguments into premises and conclusions, identifying logical fallacies, comparing viewpoints, or reviewing and refining the student’s own writing. My teaching framework draws on my background in philosophy (particularly classical logic and analytical reasoning) which I learned to make accessible to non-specialists while leading weekly 70-person discussion groups as President of the Philosophy Society at King’s College London. I adapt my approach to each student’s strengths. For students with a more mathematical mindset, I emphasize logic and structure; for those from creative or humanities backgrounds, I focus on effective communication of complex ideas. While my methods help students achieve strong academic results, my aim is to develop independent thinkers and confident writers. I treat students as young adults, engaging with their interests and using relevant, everyday examples to make abstract concepts concrete. I teach exclusively online and work with middle to high school students seeking to improve their essay and dissertation writing, critical thinking, and overall academic communication skills.
