About Dr Alan
I am a self driven scientist who wants to add value to Education and translational aspects between academia and industry.
Over the years (working in academic and Industry settings) - I have built a huge network and worked in all areas of science. From the lab bench to the boardroom. I have led teams of 20+ in start up environments and acquired many millions in Venture Capital (VC) funding in order to bring Gene Therapy products from the lab to Clinical trials (First in Human).
I am proud of my achievements and worked very hard after my degree and subsequently PhD, not to just become super narrow focused on one topic. This can be a road many experienced scientists meander down. Hence bridging into Physics and Astronomy which I covered in my A levels.
This work has enabled me to build a huge array of skills that are potentially being wasted right now. I want to give back to students and early career professionals such as yourselves.
If I do not have the answer- I guarantee I will find it for you. Upskilling is a bit like a wheelbarrow, it's a great tool, but you need to push it to make it function/work.
My TEFL training has allowed me to cater my skillset more appropriately to various audiences and give me a mechanism to build great content for ease of learning.

Teaching and tutoring has been 1-dimensional for far to long.
Gone are the days of 1 hour laboriously drawn out lectures.
I aim to explain my entire lesson in 20-25mins with leftover time for critical engagement and reflection.
I have lectured and tutored at Uni (UCL and Kings) and at high school. Having been in Industry for years, I am tired of seeing talented students join the workforce unequipped for success and not fully understanding why they are performing certain tasks.
My goal is to use bridging techniques and translational approaches to give 'real life' examples and situational case studies that make sense to the student. This is my modus operandi.
I am passionate about filling this gap between pre-post graduate and industry readiness.
I will ensure you do not leave my lessons without adding knowledge to your arsenal and using said knowledge for value in your career.
