About Narain
I joined the undergraduate programme nine years ago as a mature student, having previously trained and worked as a counsellor in India. It was during that time that I perceived the need for more foundational work to bridge the gap between experiential reality and current empirical evidence — and that conviction is what brought me to psychology and has kept me in it ever since.
I recently completed my PhD in Psychology at the University of East London, where my research focused on infant–caregiver interaction using multimodal neuroimaging and physiological measures. I hold an MSc in Human Cognitive Neuropsychology from the University of Edinburgh and a BA (Hons) from the National University of Ireland, Galway, where I also minored in IT.
My experience as a counsellor has informed a careful and considered approach to working with people, and my doctoral work sharpened my ability to explain complex ideas — from statistics and research methods to developmental and cognitive psychology — to audiences at every level, from primary school students to international conference audiences.

I recently completed my PhD in Psychology at the University of East London, where my research focused on infant–caregiver interaction using multimodal neuroimaging and physiological measures. Prior to this, I obtained an MSc in Human Cognitive Neuropsychology from the University of Edinburgh and a BA (Hons) in Psychology from the National University of Ireland, Galway.
I have experience teaching and supervising students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including delivering lectures on advanced psychology modules, supervising dissertations, and marking assessments at both Level 6 and Level 7. Before pursuing academia, I trained and worked as a counsellor in India, which has informed my careful and considered approach to supporting students — I believe civility, kindness, and openness are force multipliers that make any learning environment more effective.
My sessions are tailored to the individual. I engage in each topic myself before guiding others through it, and I am comfortable moving between formal explanation, discussion-based exploration, and practical problem-solving depending on what the student needs. I have supported students across research methods, statistics (including R and MATLAB), essay writing, and conceptual topics in developmental, cognitive, and health psychology. Whether you are working towards an assignment, trying to understand a difficult concept, or building confidence in research skills, I am happy to work at your pace and on your terms.
Sessions are typically one hour but can be adapted. I am comfortable working in person or online.
