About Laura
I've been working in education for the last 15 years and I've taught a huge range of learners, from kindergarten all the way through to postgraduates and adults. I love helping students reach their goals and grow in confidence; nothing beats watching that moment when a tricky concept finally clicks for the first time.
After my MA at King's College London I moved to Hong Kong to teach ESL to learners aged 3-11. I moved back to the UK to do a PhD in English Literature at the University of Manchester, which I completed in 2019. While studying for my PhD I started tutoring through widening participation charities like the Tutor Trust and the Brilliant Club, teaching adult ESL learners, as well as teaching undergraduate seminars in Shakespeare and critical theory.
I spent the last five years working in academic publishing, so rest assured I know my stuff when it comes to academic writing! I'm now working as a freelance editor and private tutor.
My qualifications include a PhD, a 140-hour certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. In my free time I love reading, travel, and learning new things.
