My name is Karim, I’m a PhD candidate in Philosophy. I studied and taught Philosophy at Cambridge, and discovered Philosophy as my passion. I love to lecture and supervise, and take an interest in the intellectual development of my students.

My aim is to convey to my students the intrinsically interesting nature of their subject; with that, learning comes without effort!

Lessons are typically one hour but can be modified on request. I teach Philosophy and related subjects (Ethics, Philosophy and Religion) at GSCE and A-level (and equivalents), and teach Philosophy, particularly Metaphysics, Epistemology, and Logic, at undergraduate university level.

Details

Karim is currently completing his doctoral studies in Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh, supported by a full scholarship, where his research focuses on Greek and Arabic Philosophy and the Philosophy of Religion. Previously, Karim completed an MPhil in Philosophy at Gonville and Caius College, University of Cambridge, receiving a Distinction, and a BA in Philosophy, also at Cambridge, receiving a Double First Class, a First in every exam, two Prize Scholarships, and consistently ranking in the top 5-10 students in the Cambridge cohort.

For the last two years, Karim has been employed by the University of Cambridge, Gonville and Caius College, as Supervisor in Philosophy for their Higher Aspirations Scheme - a role that involves him not only designing and teaching a Philosophy course to numerous students, but also offering admissions guidance for Cambridge applicants. Karim is also designing the Philosophy task for the Caius Explore initiative at Cambridge, which he shall also be marking, and he participated in last year's Philosophy admissions interviews at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge. Prior to that, Karim gained plenty experience through his role as Supervisor in Philosophy at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, for their Bridging School. At the same time, he was employed as Marker in Philosophy for the prestigious John Locke Essay Competition. Prior still, he was employed by the Faculty of Philosophy at Cambridge as Assistant Teacher and Marker for undergraduate Logic. Having held numerous roles at Cambridge, Karim has developed a wealth of experience teaching a range of topics in Philosophy and Theology. Outside of his university teaching, Karim has helped many secondary school students with their Philosophy and Religious Studies courses, including private 1-on-1 tuition and small class teaching; he has helped numerous university applicants gain offers of admission to top universities; and he has helped numerous students receive prizes in the John Locke Essay Competition.
